Jim Tobin Speaks at Rockford Tea Party

ROCKFORD-– Jim Tobin, president of National Taxpayers United of Illinois, was a guest speaker at the April 6 Tea Party in Rockford, where an estimated 1,000 activists gathered as part of the nationwide Tea Party Express movement’s only scheduled stop in Northern Illinois.

Tobin’s speech focused on Governor Quinn’s proposed 67% increase in the state personal income tax, and an increase in the state corporate income tax from 7.3 to 9.7% in order to pump additional taxpayer dollars into the floundering state pension funds. Copies of the Top 100 Illinois Government Pensions were distributed, along with “Wanted” flyers of February “Tax Villain of the Month” State Rep. Charles Jefferson, of Rockford.
